Experienced. Fair. Dedicated to serving families and children.
A judge who knows your courtroom.
Kristine Almquist has spent more than 20 years working in Multnomah County’s legal community — as a legal assistant, a paralegal, a public defender, and now as a sitting judicial officer. She’s not new to the bench and knows how the system works.
Raised in Southern Oregon’s Rogue Valley in a home her parents built themselves, Kristine learned early that responsibility and fairness aren’t just values — they’re how you show up every day. She brings that same ethic to every case she presides over.
20+ Years Experience · Sitting Judicial Officer · Multnomah County Resident Her StoryFrom the Rogue Valley to the bench.
Raised in Southern Oregon’s Rogue Valley in a home her parents built themselves, Kristine grew up in a family grounded in hard work and community values. Her father was a contractor who ran a small business, and her mother worked alongside him while raising their family. Growing up in a working household instilled in her a strong sense of responsibility, discipline, and the importance of treating people fairly.
Even at a young age, Kristine showed a deep concern for fairness. In first grade, she noticed a classmate who was isolated and struggling without support. It didn’t sit right with her. From that moment on, she believed systems should work for people, not against them, a belief that has guided her career.
For more than 16 years, Kristine has focused on juvenile law and issues affecting families involved in the court system. She spent 11 years as a public defender representing parents and children during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Today, she serves as a full-time Juvenile Hearings Referee and Judge Pro Tem in Multnomah County.
Kristine and her family have lived in Multnomah County for more than 20 years. As a parent, she understands how deeply court decisions affect children and families.
She is running because the courts need judges who are steady, impartial, and prepared to serve. If elected, she will apply the law fairly, ensure access to justice, and uphold the integrity of the courts.
Kristine would be honored to earn your vote.

Why She's RunningReady to serve on Day One.
Kristine is running for Multnomah County Circuit Court, Position 14, because experience and fairness matter. Our courts make decisions that shape the lives of children and families every single day. Those decisions deserve a judge who has been in the room — who understands the weight of what happens there.
If elected, Kristine will apply the law fairly and impartially, treat every person who appears before her with dignity and respect, and serve this community with steadiness and integrity.
